After taking a brief shopping break at the Southpark Mall, I decided to grab some dinner at Piccadilly Cafeteria at the mall. I haven't dined at a full service cafeteria restaurant in quite sometime. Grab a tray and utensils and go down the line and tell the staff what you like to eat, served cafeteria style (most food all set to be served) and pay at the register at the end of the line. The older style dining room has ample seating. Piccadilly offers a decent variety Southern homestyle entrees (fried fish, baked fish, fried shrimp, fried chicken, baked chicken, salisbury steak, pasta & others), salads, hot sides, desserts (pies, jello, cakes), and Coke products. Entrees are reasonably priced, which come with two sides and fresh bread. Entrees are priced under $10. Kids meals are 99 cents after 4PM and the military get a 10 percent discount. I got the Chicken Tetrazzini ($7.49 plus tax) with two sides (turnip greens and broccoli) and garlic bread. The Chicken Tetrazzini was a homestyle casserole type dish which had soft noodles, chicken, hard boiled egg, and lots of cheese. The vegetables were hot and had a soft texture. The grilled buttered garlic bread was very good (made fresh to order). The food was served hot and the "not very fancy" food tasted okay for the most part. This is definitely not the kind of restaurant I'd take a date to, but it's fairly decent place for families and seniors (my folks would dig this kind of food served here). The staff was real friendly in a good ol Southern way. The manager and server stopped by to make sure things were going well.
